Counselling Services

Psychotherapy/Mental Health Counselling

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward, you’re not alone. Many of my clients come to me feeling exactly the same way, and my goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and explore these challenges.

I specialize in helping adults and young adults navigate anxiety, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Drawing on over 10 years of experience, I use a blend of evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques to help you understand your thoughts and emotions and develop practical tools for feeling better and creating lasting change.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs and goals. I believe therapy is a partnership where we work together to identify challenges and build the confidence and skills you need to live a more fulfilling life.

Academic Counselling

As an individual with a strong academic background and a holder of a doctoral degree, I take pride in helping students navigate major selection and career pathways, and I am passionate about empowering them to take ownership of their academic journey. My goal is to provide a supportive and non-judgmental space where students can confidently work toward their goals.

Employers

If you are an employer, I can help you in more than one way. I have completed my doctoral capstone/thesis on Best Practices for Inclusive Hiring and have groundbreaking findings packaged nicely that you can use to incorporate into your hiring policy to be more inclusive for you to find the best talent possible. As a former job developer through Employment Ontario programs, I have had the opportunity to work with many job seekers and employers, and I see firsthand how employers can benefit from having a structured process to enhance their hiring process, rather than just relying on their networks and people in their circle. I encourage every employer to invest in a solid policy for Best Practices for Inclusive Hiring with the findings I already have at hand at a reasonable price.

Additionally, I can assist employers with their Employee Assistance Program (EAP). In my earlier years, I worked in the automotive industry as an internal auditor and did not miss a day at work in ten years. For many people this is unheard of. I have what it takes to motivate employees to make work a priority while putting themselves first. Regardless of what challenges employees may face, I have the skill set and experience that they can still rise above, which happens to be the title of my new book, Rising Above: My Path to Outstanding Achievements. All you need to do is reach out as your first step, and you will not regret a minute of it.

Other Services

Keynote Speaker

I enjoy speaking and sharing my knowledge with people and take every opportunity that comes my way to speak as a keynote speaker for a big event or a smaller event such as a lunch and learn. In all of my speaking opportunities, I tie the message to the title of my book, Rising Above: My Path to Outstanding Achievements.

Research

As a research scientist, I use applied research to explore real-world problems to help close the gaps that will benefit the underprivileged population, whether it be mental health related or a systemic change that will create opportunities for better care, for example.

Community

I have always lived a life where I am conscious that I am not the only one that needs to live and survive. Despite limited resources, I have gone above and beyond to help people, many I didn’t even know, with a variety of challenges. Many of those are related to some sort of social services, such as assistance in finding work after graduation or after migrating from a different country, in addition to advocacy work as it relates to the most vulnerable. You name it, I have done it. My life will be lost without being part of the community in some shape or form, because it gives me satisfaction knowing that I live my life not only for the sake of myself but for the sake of others as well.

The more I live, the more I realize that connecting with people is just a beautiful thing. It is for that reason I initiated an annual community concert and two weekly community radio shows, because these initiatives allow me to do just that. Most recently I also started a new talk show, The Dr. Narine Dat Show, creating a platform for a safe space and mutual respect. The topics range from what’s happening in the world around us to what’s happening on the other side of the world that has an impact on our lives as well.
